Community Contribution 2: Instructional Approach

Hi Jingzhe.

I enjoyed reading your post. I found your blog post very informative and insightful in understanding pedagogies in the classroom. I thought you made an important point about students being the creators of information rather than consumers of it. I believe having this teaching philosophy in the classroom is essential during the learning process. This is because students are able to be creative when completing assignments and in-class activities, allowing them to enjoy learning and effectively learn the course material. I agree that our group’s blueprint design does illustrate this approach through our big ideas. Our interactive teaching method includes digital tools, such as EdPuzzle and Kahoot. As well as 5-10 minute lessons focused on different topics to keep students focused on one topic at a time. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Eemaan. I thought you explained the experimental learning approach well by providing a definition and example of what it would look like in a classroom. I liked that you explained experimental learning as a hands-on approach that increases a student’s understanding. I believe this is done effectively when students can reflect on their experiences after engaging in an experiment. In previous psychology courses, I have created research experiments on topics and then written what I had overall found in my study, which gives the reader and myself a better understanding. I think it is great that our group’s blueprint includes an experimental learning essential question, as this will keep students engaged throughout our lessons and help them better understand the importance of the scientific method. Thank you for sharing!
